It's been just a few days over 1 year of my 3 year lease of an F150.  I won't lie, the thought of a 2.7 liter V6 in a full size truck was something I had been a little worried about.  Granted I knew it had turbos and had a towing ability of 9,000 pounds, I've always been more of a American muscle V8 kind of guy.  I wanted the 5.0 V8 but the 2.7 leased out better.  Also, it would be more than enough to pull my camper, so I went with it.

My most recent truck before this was a 1997 F250 with a 7.3 Powerstroke diesel and I will say I miss how tough that truck felt.  However I don't miss the rough diesel shake, noise, and smell.  Okay, I miss those things a little bit, I think because they remind me of my Pap and his old diesels.

This 2018 F150 though has proven to be a good fit for me.  It's smooth, quiet, fast, and pulls the camper just fine.  While it does pull fine when towing I can still tell it's a turbo V6 and not a V8, not in a bad way, but you can tell.  Mileage wise, once the truck hit over 10,000 miles that did increase.  I don't baby or grandpa drive any of my vehicles, so my mileage numbers are probably a lot less than some.  Currently I am getting between 18-19 mpg or so around town running 87 octane fuel, and around 23-24 mpg on the highway.  It's hard for me to not dive into those turbos once they start spooling.

I have the XLT model with the Sport Package, so it's not fully loaded but it has enough stuff for me.  Heated seats, rear cameras, LED box lighting, and my favorite thing is I can start it with my phone.  While that app has been hit and miss on when it works right, most of the time it does work.  I do wish the truck had more all terrain tires, the Michelins on it are nice but they are more of a highway tire.  Since it's a lease, I won't be changing them.

All in all, I'd lease one again at this point.  I know I won't be buying it out at the end, mostly because if I am going to own a pickup it needs a proper low rumble exhaust and that is one thing the 2.7 from all my research can't deliver.  I might consider a 5.0 lease next but if the dollar amount works out for the better it may be a 2.7 again.  I guess I'll decide in 2 years when it's time.
