The City of Duluth is currently accepting applications to participate in their Citizens' Police Academy, which allows citizens to learn and understand the responsibilities police officers face.

According to their website, The Citizens' Police Academy provides 12 weeks of both classroom and field instruction to teach the procedures and techniques used by officers in a variety of scenarios, together with the rationale and justification in support of those procedures or techniques.

Not only will instruction cover a wide variety of topics, but participants will also have the opportunity to ride along with an officer and engage in actual firearms use with some of the department's specialized weapons.

Classes are held every Wednesday evening starting March 14 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm for 12 weeks, ending May 30.
