Holding true to their claim of "we have the meats", Arby's is once again flexing multitude of options for carnivores by bringing back the venison sandwich nationwide for one day only. Along with the special re-release of the deer sandwich, the food chain will also release a special elk sandwich at three stores in the country.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the venison sandwich will be in all Arby's locations on Saturday, October 21. Superior was one of a limited number of locations around the country that offered the sandwich last fall. Many locations sold out quickly, showing a level of popularity that prompted a nationwide release this fall.

The sandwich features a thick-cut venison steak and crispy onions with a berry sauce on a toasted roll. According to the USA Today, the venison comes from New Zealand, which sells grass-fed, free-range meat. If you're curious about how it tastes, be sure to check out our review from last year at the top of the page.

If you're hoping to try it (or try it again), you better act fast. We went to the Superior location last year, and there were plenty of people lurking around, waiting to get the sandwich. Employees explained there was actually a limit to the number of sandwiches a customer could buy. There are four Arby's locations in the Twin Ports area; one in Cloquet, one in Superior, and two in Duluth (Grand Avenue, Arrowhead Road). Each location opens at 10 am.

If you want to try the elk sandwich, you will have to do a bit of traveling. There are only three locations in the entire country that will offer the sandwich. It will be offered the day as the venison sandwich at these three locations:

  • 200 East 144th Ave., Thornton, Colorado 80023
  • 2607 CY Ave., Casper, Wyoming 82604
  • 2834 King Ave. W, Billings, Montana 59102
