It's officially Fire Prevention Week!  It's the perfect time to replace smoke detector batteries, and carbon monoxide detector batteries too, and tour a Duluth Fire Department Station.

The Duluth Fire Department Facebook page has posted an invitation for the public to attend an open house Saturday, October 13 at Duluth Fire Department Station #4, located at 425 W. College Street.

From 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. there will be kitchen fire trailer demonstrations, kids activities and free hot dogs and refreshments.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, prevention is a huge part of any fire department's work.  Meeting the public when they're not in an emergency situation, such as a fire or traffic crash, is a good place to start.  That way they can talk to you about ways to stay safe, and show you what things are like behind the scenes.
