The NFL handed down their decision a few weeks ago regarding coach suspensions surrounding the "bountygate" controversy, which included an indefinite suspension of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Williams was allegedly at the center of the controversy, offering strong incentives for intentional injury of players, including offering substantial sums of money to players who knocked opponents out of the game.

Audio was released today by Sean Pamphilon, a filmmaker shooting a documentary about former Saints special teams ace Steve Gleason. Gleason is suffering from ALS; and the film was commissioned, in part, as a memoir.

The leaked speech took place before a playoff game between the Saints and San Fransisco 49ers. Williams set a chilling standard of being in the business of creating hurt for the opponent's offense. He specifically named 49ers players and suggested tactics to attack them; including repeatedly hitting and attacking running back Frank Gore's head, and finding ways to inflict an ACL injury on wideout Michael Crabtree.

Although there was no specific mention of financial incentives in the audio, Williams does imply on a couple occasions there would be a reward for players who achieved these goals. Pamphilon, who was in the room shooting film at the time, said Williams rubbed his thumb and index finger together suggesting a money-related inscentive as he talked about quarterback Alex Smith, saying "I got the first one. I got the first one. Go get it. Go lay that [expletive] out."

Here is the leaked audio - note that the content does contain several uses of explicit language. I'm sure you'll have something to say about this after watching it, so leave a comment below.
