Brian Johnson has been sidelined from AC/DC, risking irreversible hearing loss if he continued to perform with the band, but it didn't take long for the iconic singer to find work. No, he's not fronting a new band, but his voice can be heard on Planet Rock as he hosts the new program, The Producers.

The five-part series airs on the U.K. radio station where Johnson takes an in-depth look at the recording process from the production standpoint. Having recorded 10 records with AC/DC since 1980, the frontman has a firm grasp on the studio and will dive in with legendary producers Bob Rock (Metallica, Motley Crue), Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Dream Theater) Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, Ozzy Osbourne), and Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones) with the final episode offering the best clips from each episode.

"Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it’s great to be part of this show with Planet Rock,” said Johnson. “To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock ‘n’ roll dynamite, is great. Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy."

Planet Rock’s content director Ric Blaxill commented, "The quality of rock producers that we interviewed required a series host with rock credibility and an in depth understanding of how producers work with bands to create a distinct sound. Brian is without doubt the perfect person to host the series with his incredible experience as a musician and as one of rock’s most distinctive vocalists ever."

The first episode aired on July 3 earlier this month, featuring Bob Rock as the inaugural guest. The Producers airs Sundays at 7PM. Guests are slated to appear in the following order: Bob Rock, Roy Thomas Baker, Kevin Shirley and Nick Raskulinecz followed by a best of episode. Find more information at Planet Rock.

Johnson has been replaced by stand-in singer Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses as he works on finding a solution that can bring him back to the stage. The singer recently met with Stephen Ambrose, an expert in hearing technology and inventor of the in-ear monitor, to try out a new technology that may reduce his risk losing his hearing entirely all while performing shows at high volumes.
