A group of community members, who want to promote peace and unity, have organized an event designed to bring everyone together to show support for local law enforcement officials.

"Duluth Supports Their Law Enforcement Officials" will be held on Thursday August 25, Friday August 26, and Saturday August 27 from 7:30pm-10:30pm each night at the South Street Footbridge between 16th & 17th Ave E.

Everyone is invited to come out for as many nights as they can to show support for local law enforcement officials and let them know that their dedication and sacrifices are appreciated.

Organizers have made it clear that is this in no way a protest, but rather a "family friendly, safe event".  They expect that the public will get to interact with on-duty officers who stop by, and with off-duty officers who will be in attendance.  There may also be an opportunity to meet the Mounted Patrol and K-9 units as well.

People are encouraged to wear blue and bring candles, glow sticks, blue balloons or a sign to show your support.

Organizers would also welcome additional support from community members willing to contribute.  They are looking for:

  • Donations for food/beverages for the event.
  • Donations of gift cards to be given away to any on or off duty law enforcement officer who attends.
  • Sponsorship of some positive recognition items in the works for the event such as a t-shirts, a billboard, yard signs, silicone bracelets, etc.
