If you're a Minnesota turkey hunter looking to secure an early season spring hunting permit, the deadline is fast approaching.

The deadline to apply for your permit is Friday, January 27.  According to the Minnesota DNR, the spring season lasts from Wednesday, April 12, to Wednesday, May 31, and has six time periods. Only firearms hunters age 18 and older who want to hunt during the first two time periods (A or B) need to apply by Jan. 27 for a spring turkey permit.

If you're looking to hunt during the remaining time periods, permits can be purchased over-the-counter starting March 1. Surplus adult licenses from the first two time periods, if available, are sold starting around mid-March.
