The City of Duluth has announced that the annual Rose Tipping Event is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 and Monday, October 23.  This event is open to the public and provides opportunities to volunteer and learn the Minnesota Tip Method, a process that protects roses during the winter.

The event takes place from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. each day at the Leif Erikson Park Rose Garden.

According to the City, whether you are experienced at the task or just want to learn, expert rose tippers will be on hand to teach volunteers the Minnesota Tip Method, a process that protects tender roses from the harsh conditions of a typical Duluth winter.

Also, if you have clean and closed garbage bags full of leaves, they will be accepted for a limited time at the Rose Garden.  A designated section of the parking lot will be blocked off for the donations. Be forewarned that due to new matting being used to winterize the roses, there is a more limited need for bagged leaves.
