A 60-day construction project on downtown Duluth's Michigan Street has forced the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) to temporarily relocate its Duluth Transportation Center operations.

According to the DTA, all DTA buses will be detoured to the former Superior Street bus stops at the Holiday Center and the Transit Center East (TCE). Passengers will be required to board and alight buses on Superior Street during this time. The TCE on the lower side of Superior Street will be used for eastbound buses and the Holiday Center bus stop on the upper side of Superior Street will be used for westbound buses. Jefferson Lines will continue operations at the DTC utilizing a temporary boarding area at Michigan Street and 3rd Avenue West.

Furthermore, hourly and contract parking on the upper levels of the DTC will be closed during this time. Contract parkers are being relocated to Level 1 and Lot C of the DTC, which is accessible via 3rd Avenue West. Hourly parking is also available at Lot C.

Other services will be provided at these centers during the following hours:

  • Transit Center East (TCE) Hours: Monday – Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. DTA Information Booth: Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday: Closed
  • Duluth Transportation Center (DTC) Hours – Jefferson Lines Monday – Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

If construction goes as planned, the primary Duluth Transportation Center should re-open on July 1, 2017. The Duluth Police Department and Jefferson Lines services will remain at the DTC during this time.
