Watch Foo Fighters + Weezer's Rivers Cuomo Cover Kiss Classic

Foo Fighters and Weezer closed out the Australian leg of their tour this past Tuesday (Jan. 30) with the former bringing out the latter's singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo to take on the KISS classic "Detroit Rock City." The song was performed as the Foos wound down their main set at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, and video can be seen below.

"To us it's kind of a reunion," Foo frontman Dave Grohl says before launching into the track, referencing the last time the two bands hit the road with one another back in 2005. "So we thought, last night of the Australian tour, we'd do something fuckin' for you, have Rivers come up and fuckin' sing a song with us."

Cuomo does his best Paul Stanley on the song, which originally appeared as the opening track to the landmark 1976 KISS album Destroyer. It would also serve as the third single from the record and would later go on to be the title of a 1999 feature length comedy film about a group of kids in 1978 Cleveland, Ohio and their journey to Detroit, Mich. to see the grease-painted rockers.

This Saturday (Feb. 3) at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand will see the final date of the Foo Fighters and Weezer tour. Each band will be preparing for their own respective run of shows; the Foos will be hitting South America later this month before recharging a bit and then heading out on a headlining tour of North America with a quick jump across the pond to headline some European festivals.
