Jim Gaffigan brought his 'Fixer Upper' tour to Duluth this past weekend, former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler Matt Birk tried to get his big break by offering to open for him.

All in good fun, it looks like Birk will be offering his hand at stand up in the middle of May at O'Gara's in St. Paul when Birk's foundation hosts a comedy event.

Pretty funny to see both Birk and Gaffigan have a good sense of humor during the exchange on twitter. It sounds like the show was a rousing success for Gaffigan, who's quickly becoming one of the most well-known stand up comics in the country.

If Birk wanted to try out comedy full time, I have no doubt he would excel at it. The former Certain-Derham Hall High School standout went to a little college called Harvard before getting drafted by his home state Minnesota Vikings. I think he might be able to channel some of that work ethic he became known for into a solid stand up set talking about his life adventures.
