It has been awhile since my last update of the Minnesota Timberwolves, a lot has happened, Flip Saunders is the new (well not new to Minnesota) General Manager of the T-wolves; the NBA draft lottery happened, and well the Wolves will be drafting ninth in this upcoming draft. It looks like Rick Adelman will be back as head coach; and the brightest news ever is David Kahn is no longer apart of the organization.

So to get to the point of what is the future of the Wolves? Bleak? Promising? I see it as promising, mostly because Flip is back; because in the over 20 years of this franchise the brightest point was that magical 2003 season where Flip guided this franchise to the Western Conference Finals to only lose to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games; but even before that he helped guide the Wolves to eight straight playoff appearances, even though the first seven were first round exits.

I might be miss leaded into thinking that Flip can ultimately guide this franchise back to relevance; but I am going all in on the Flip bandwagon. The reason why is if Flip, who is a basketball genius; been to the NBA finals as a coach, and ACTUALLY wants to be in Minnesota.

On the flip side (no pun intended) the reason why people might not want to believe that Flip is the guy is because he has no experience as a general manager, but his expertise is as a coach, and well the Wolves have a Hall of Fame coach in Adelman already. Also we have seen there is a difference between a coach and a general manager, and even a sports writer look no further then the last general manager the Wolves had which was Kahn, all I have to say is Jonny Flynn when Step Curry WAS STILL ON THE BOARD! Okay sorry I just had to vent, but Kahn should have stuck with being a sports writer. Heck look at the person Kahn took over for Kevin McHale, McHale was a basketball legend but when it came to being a general manager he stunk; trading away Kevin Garnett for absolutely nothing, signing Joe Smith to that horrible contract, but hey he has turned it around as a coach for the playoff team Houston Rockets.

So for now I have complete faith that Flip won't draft back-to-back point guards in this upcoming draft, but instead will draft the best player that fits what this team needs. He needs to l repair the relationship with all star Kevin Love, and show him that him and Ricky Rubio playing for this team will be the best thing for them both as they progress through their careers. If Flip tanks this job, and this team continues to be in the lottery every spring then this franchise is cursed beyond comprehension.

It's not like Flip is taking over a franchise that lacks stars, with Rubio and Love, and now two first round picks this team can actually become a playoff team come next season, heck they would have been this season if Love didn't do "knuckle push-ups" and this team didn't spend more time in the training room then actually on the court. I will give Kahn one credit, he didn't spend money foolishly, Flip has money to spend, and the reason Kahn doesn't get credit for Rubio is because of who he drafted right after.....Flynn.

Only time will tell if Flip is the right man for this job, and has the ability to bring this team back to the glory days when he was roaming the side lines at Target Center; back when it was actually cool to go to a T-Wolves game.
