After several weeks of detours to get between Duluth and Superior, one of the main arteries between the two cities will reopen. MNDOT says the project to  perform repairs to the bridge was completed faster than anticipated, alleviating congestion during morning and evening commutes.

Southbound lanes into Superior are already open, and northbound lanes into Duluth open at 9 am Friday, October 7. While the bridge will be open, it is worth noting that the Garfield Avenue ramps will still be impacted by construction. MNDOT says that the northbound ramp off to Garfield Avenue will open late in the day on Friday, as they complete work.

The closures on the bridge were part of a project to repair guardrails, install new luminaires, upgrade signing, and complete deck sealing.
