It seems like just yesterday that I was running the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, yet here we are in fall with Grandma's Marathon registrations opening Monday.

Not only will registration open October 1 at 7:00 p.m. for Grandma's Marathon, but registration will also open for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K.

According to Grandma's Marathon, entries for Grandma’s Marathon will be taken on a first come, first serve basis until the race reaches 9,000 participants. Those who register to run the 26.2-mile race before December 31 will receive a free commemorative full-zip jacket. After December 31, runners will have the option to purchase the jacket.

Registration for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will again be conducted on a first come, first registered basis until the race capacity is filled at 7,500 participants. There will be no lottery.  The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is expected to reach capacity very quickly. In 2018, registration closed in approximately four hours, so make sure you're ready to register by 7:00 p.m.

New this year is the opportunity to purchase a two-year entry guarantee for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon for June 22, 2019 and June 20, 2020. This option is $390 plus processing fee, with half of the fee going directly to the Young Athletes Foundation.

The William A. Irvin 5K is limited to the first 2,000 participants. The 3.1-mile racecourse features a tour through Canal Park and all finishers get a medal and finisher shirt.

You'll also be able to register October 1 for the Great Grandma’s Challenge, which pairs the 5K with either the full or half marathon. Registration for the Great Grandma’s Challenge is limited to the first 500 individuals for each race.

Happy training!
