Through the two and a half seasons Matt Capps has been with the Minnesota Twins, management hoped would be a solid late-inning option to wrap up games. Apparently he hasn't done enough to prove his worth in that role.

According to NBC SportsTalk, the Twins have decided not to act on the $6 million option on the table for the upcoming season. The club will buy out the remainder of the Capps contract for $250,000, and say goodbye to the 29 year old righty.

The Twins traded catcher Wilson Ramos to the Washington Nationals midway through the 2010 season for Capps. In his tenure with Minnesota, he pitched 122 total innings with a 3.61 ERA.
