Minnesota is Selected as a Finalist for Super Bowl 52 in 2018

Minnesota will soon be home to a brand new, world class stadium and it could also play host to one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.

It was announced today that Minnesota has been selected as a finalist to host Super Bowl LII (that's 52) on February 4, 2018. The other two cities selected as finalists are Indianapolis and New Orleans.

Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf said of the announcement, ""With the outstanding hospitality community in Minneapolis-St. Paul and the opening of the new state-of-the-art stadium, this is a perfect fit. We look forward to working with state and local leaders to secure this major event in Minnesota."

If Minneapolis is selected as host, it would be only the second time in history and the first time since 1992 when the Washington Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

The NFL will make the final decision in May. But does anyone really think that a decision wasn't already made when the deal was struck for the new stadium? I little wink of the eye from Roger Goodell to Governor Mark Dayton.
