In a year full of disappointment and bad news, Brian Dozier has provided the Minnesota Twins with a terrific story with his power surge.  Tonight, he hit his historic 40th home run in Detroit.

According to Twins Baseball, Dozier became only the second Twins player and third in franchise history to reach 40 homers in a season, joining Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew and Roy Sievers of the Washington Senators.  He is also the first second baseman in Major League Baseball to hit 40 home runs in a season.

In true Twins fashion, they did lose 4-2 in Detroit.  However, that shouldn't take away from Brian's historic night and terrific season, especially since he started out so slowly to start the year.

Hopefully the Twins are smart enough to hang onto a fan favorite and productive player for years to come.
