I posted last week about the new ownership of Lake Superior Brewing and that they were throwing a party in the taproom.  Friday night I made it out to said event, and it was packed full of beer lovers and the live music was great.

It had been many years since I had been in there and the entrance has changed with some merchandise on display and they have some nice longer wooden upright bar tables to sip your beer at.  I grabbed a beer and set out to meet the new owners.

Talking with Lars Kuehnow and Lisa Blade, the new owners, is almost like having a chat with your best friend's awesome parents.  They are down to earth, humble, funny, and beer loving Minnesotans.  They are very excited with this new journey and plan to work on expanding and growing Duluth's oldest craft brewery.

I did hear a rumor which may have been from an owner, that they are bringing back Mesabi Red, which is a great beer Lake Superior Brewing used to make.  Of course I tossed out the idea of a "Joe Danger Lager", and a "Squatch Bock" was talked about, but I'm not holding my breath.  On tap was one of my favorites, Old Man Winter Warmer, so I filled up with that.  It's a beer that goes well with the weather we had between Thursday and Friday.

Lars and Lisa said to look for big things up and coming, from new beers, to expanded taproom hours, more tastings, and tap takeovers too.  Going forward, I can't wait to see the new owners continue to grow Lake Superior Brewing.
