While the deal isn't "officially" finished, it is very safe to say the Vikings will have a new stadium to call home in Minnesota in the next couple years. While it has been largely accepted that the new facility will be a roofed complex offering year-round use capabilities, new information surfacing suggests there is still a chance to see open-air Vikings games when they move into their new home.

According to a report, the Wilfs are considering footing the bill to add a retractable roof to the new Vikings facility. Along with the ability to offer the option of open-air Vikings games, a second tenant for the new stadium could be added if the field can provide an outside setting. The Wilfs are reportedly looking at attracting a professional soccer team; and in order to host such a team, games must be able to be played in an outdoor setting.

Mark Wilf offered the following about the brothers' plans to make the new stadium all that it can be:

We're going to try to get the maximum number of features within the budgets that we can make this a facility that is going to be exciting to the fans. We know it's a competitive landscape to attract our fans to the facility and we're going to want to make it something special. To the extent that (a retractable roof) can get there, we're going to try to do it.
