Monday morning it was announced that the PGA TOUR is coming to Minnesota starting in 2019.

The announcement comes a day after the U.S. Open that TPC Twin Cities in Blaine has agreed to a seven-year deal to host a FedExCup season event.

3M will be the presenting sponsor and the event will be called the 3M Open. The 3M Championship, which was the PGA TOUR Champions event held since 1993, will have it's last tournament here in August.

The last PGA Tour event held here was back in 2009 when Tiger Woods lost the PGA Championship to Y.E. Yang at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska. The Ryder Cup was also held at Hazeltine back in 2016. The Ryder Cup recently announced that it will be returning to Hazeltine in 2028.

The PGA TOUR announcement continues the sporting event hot streak for the Twin Cities. With the recent Super Bowl, the 2019 NCAA Basketball Final Four, The X Games, and now the 3M Open Minnesota has become a sports event hot bed.
