If the kids have been asking for a puppy, now just might be the time. The Humane Society of Douglas County will be receiving a litter of puppies within the next week. According to Executive Director Sheila Keup, she says, “We’re expecting about seventeen Lab mix, German Shepard mix and Dachshund puppies on December 11. They’ll be arriving from Texas and seek loving homes.” They will not be available right away as they will need to be vet checked, but anyone interested in adopting is welcome to stop by and take a look.

The HSDC shelters and cares for approximately 1,000 animals from across the City of Superior and Douglas County each year. Every animal that is adopted is vet checked, dewormed, vaccinated, micro chipped, spayed or neutered, given whatever medical attention is needed, and temperament tested as well.
