The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering 16 special youth deer hunts in October and November, and applications are being accepted now.

During these special hunts, youth must be accompanied by a parent, or other adult mentor, which is a great experience for everyone.  Keep in mind that both the youth and adult must attend a pre-hunt orientation and only the youth may actually hunt.

The DNR also states that participation in other deer hunting seasons remains an option for youth who take part in these special youth deer hunts, but any deer harvested count against the youth’s season bag limit.

Applications are being accepted through Friday, August 18.  Of the 16 special hunts, 14 are firearms hunts for youth ages 12 to 15, and two are archery hunts for youth ages 12 to 17.
