The first strong winter storm of the season is making its presence known, even if it isn't bringing a ton of snow to the immediate Duluth/Superior area. Dave Campbell, who works as part of the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge crew, shared this video of waves overtaking the pier walls and flooding the pier. Wind measurements on the bridge are being measured at 35 knots, gusting to 40 knots (roughly 45 mph).

The gates on both piers have been closed to prevent anyone from going out toward the lighthouses. Anyone considering going to Canal Park to check out the waves should exercise extreme caution near the water.
