A group of students at Superior High School are doing their part to raise awareness and funding for heart disease and research efforts at this Thursday's (February 5) hockey game between the Spartans and the Lumberjacks of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

High school hockey season is in full force in the Duluth / Superior area, and ESPN 560 WEBC has your ticket to hear the action over the airwaves in the Twin Ports or streaming online around the world. This year’s coverage will include games from many teams around the area; including Duluth East, Superior, Cloquet, Duluth Denfeld, Hermantown, Duluth Marshall, and more.

The 2014 Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament wrapped up over the weekend, with Duluth East falling in the consolation final and Hermantown claiming their 5th straight 2nd place in Class A. The Superior Spartans made their 12th trip to the Wisconsin Boys Hockey Tournament in the last 13 years, meeting the Verona Wildcats at Alliant Energy Center in Madison Thursday.

The Hermantown Hawks opened the 2014 Class A Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament against the Luverne Cardinals, a team that had not lost a game this season. Along with an unbeaten record, the Cardinals' 2014 tournament berth is the team's first trip to State.

In a game that promised plenty of excitement, the Duluth East Greyhounds and Elk River Elks met at AMSOIL Arena Thursday night, competing for the Section 7AA Title and a trip to the Minnesota State Class AA Tournament.
