We've heard horror stories about someone being robbed, assaulted or even killed while meeting a stranger for a transaction that originated through Craigslist or Facebook.  While the majority of such transactions are between two law abiding citizens, it's still best to protect yourself by meeting at a safe place in the Northland.

I would also recommend bringing a friend with you every single time, and if the person you're meeting tries to change locations at the last minute, you should cancel the meeting altogether.

While there may be many similar places, here are 3 of the best places to meet someone in the Northland to complete your transaction.  The main things I look for are places with a lot of people as someone who is looking to put you in harms way is less likely to do so when there are a lot of people around.  I also look for places where any type of transaction is possible, both small and large items.

    Canal Park Duluth

With the Aerial Lift Bridge, Lakewalk, hotels, restaurants and shops, Canal Park is a great place to meet someone to complete a sale.  This is especially true in the summer months when tourism is really buzzing.

    Caribou Coffee, Central Entrance Duluth

Caribou Coffee on Central Entrance in Duluth is great for several reasons.

First, it's open early and stays open late enough.  Second, it has a large parking lot that is rarely full so if you're selling furniture or a larger item you have room to complete the sale.  Third, all windows at this Caribou location look right into the aforementioned parking lot so everyone inside can see everything going on.

Again, the more people looking and walking around, the safer you're more likely to be.  Not only that, but you get to go inside and get a fantastic cup of coffee.

    Perkins Family Restaurant in Superior

For those looking to do a transaction on the Wisconsin side of the bridge, Perkins on E 2nd Street in Superior is a nice choice.

They are open early and late, have a nice size parking lot, if needed, for those larger transactions, and they get a lot of traffic both at the restaurant and on the roads outside.
