Tuesday night, Major League Baseball announced 2017 Gold Glove winners and Byron Buxton and Brian Dozier of the Minnesota Twins both won the first Gold Gloves of their careers.

According to TwinsBaseball.com, Buxton beat out American League finalists Kevin Pillar (Blue Jays) and Lorenzo Cain (Royals), snapping Tampa Bay's Kevin Kiermaier's streak of two consecutive Gold Gloves in center field.

Brian Dozier finished ahead of fellow second basemen Ian Kinsler (Tigers) and Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox).  Kinsler won it in 2016 and was considered the favorite to win it again this year.

The Twins had a historic turnaround this year, even earning a post season birth, and their defense was a big reason why.  I think both players have the chance to win Gold Gloves for years to come.
