After years of being a dry neighborhood, Duluth's Lakeside may soon be experiencing a rootin' tootin' time with the opening of two new liquor stores.

According to the Duluth News Tribune:

Lakeside Liquors at 4507 E. Superior St. and Stokke's Liquor Store at 5631 E. Superior St. were both on the city's Alcohol, Gambling and Tobacco Committee agenda last week. The commission heard from the prospective owners and gave an initial stamp of approval to each.

Now that the commission has given their stamp of approval to these two new businesses, final approval would come in the form of a vote from the Duluth City Council.

Seeing how it was the Duluth City Council who ultimately voted to repeal Lakeside's liquor ban in 2016, after a citywide vote showed approval of such a move, it would be surprising if the new liquor stores were not allowed to be open for business.
