Joe Mauer and Max Kepler have been named Co-Players Of The Week in the American League by Major League Baseball.

Mauer and Kepler led the Minnesota Twins to a 5-2 record last week, which was a great week for a team that has struggled to piece together wins all season.

Kepler was the talk of the league last week after he blasted 3 home runs and 6 RBI's on August 1st against the Cleveland Indians. He ended the week batting .370 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI's. He was quoted as saying "I'm just trying to hit singles. I'm just trying to put the ball in play and hit it hard. I'm thankful for the backspin I was blessed with."

Mauer had 5 games with multiple hits this past week. In two of those games, Mauer had 4 hits. Mauer finished the week with a .560 batting average, 1 home run, and 9 RBI's. This was the 4th time in Mauer's career in which he received player of the week honors.
