The most impressive part of the Vikings 5-0 start is how they have done it despite all the injuries they have suffered to starters on both sides of the ball, especially on offense.  On the day they placed another offensive starter on injured reserve, they announced the signing of a player they hope can regain form and help the team.

The Vikings announced Tuesday that starting offensive lineman Andre Smith on injured reserve.  They also announced that they have signed offensive lineman Jake Long, the 2008 #1 overall draft pick, to a one year deal.

Long had great success early in his career, starting out with four straight selections to the Pro Bowl.  Injuries derailed his career and now the Vikings are hoping that he can stay healthy the rest of this season to help a depleted offensive line.

With all the injuries and player moves to keep the roster filled, the Vikings are now basically out of salary cap space to do much more.  To keep this incredible start going, all fingers are crossed that the injury bug stays away from the team.
