On a day the whole country morns the anniversary of the day that changed America, people turned to football for comfort, but hopefully you did not watch the Minnesota Vikings play the San Diego Chargers, because then you witnessed a team(Vikings) look like Super Bowl contenders in the first half, and then come out of the locker room, and play like a team headed for last place in the NFC North, and perhaps last in the NFL.

Maybe I am looking into this game to much. It was the first game of a season for teams who have not had a full off season to get ready for the season. The Vikings stormed onto the field hot, Percy Harvin talked Leslie Frazier into letting him return kicks; and Harvin returned 103 yard kick off for a touchdown. Yet Donovan McNabb first pass as a Vikings went for an interception, but the first half did end with a red zone interception by Antoine Winfield, and the Vikings went into locker room with a 17-7 lead.

This game looked more like a preseason game, because the Vikings starters quit after halftime, while the Chargers would go on to score 21 unanswered points in the second half and go on to win the game 24-17, and the Vikings shot themselves in the foot with three offsides penalties on the Chargers last drive. The only thing that went well for the Vikings was that the secondary looked pretty decent, and Jared Allen recorded his fifth interception of his career, and Adrian Peterson fresh off of his big pay raise rushed for 98 yards on 16 rushing attempts.

The reason I said where is Favre when we need him? Is because McNabb threw for 39 yards, yep you read that

right 39 yards, even Cam Newton threw for 422 yards. Let me rephrase that a ROOKIE threw for more yards then McNabb, and that is not the only rookie to throw more yards then McNabb. Andy Dalton threw for 81 yards before being injured. Kerry Collins who looked terrible in the 34-7 lose to the Houston Texans threw for 197 yards. McNabb looked good, for a wild cat quarterback, because his arm looked weak, and inaccurate.

The Defensive Line desperately missed Kevin Williams, who is serving a two game suspension. Yet would Williams really make a deference when our offense cant move the ball through the air. It might be to early to say that this Vikings season could be already over, but the way this team looked today, we might be seeing Christan Ponder real soon; or we might start talking about the Minnesota Timberwolves upcoming season if their is one, yeah I did just mention the Timberwolves along side the Vikings, but this is where the Vikings are right now, they might be worse the T-Wolves. Hopefully I am just being paranoid, but this Winter could become a very long one for Minnesota Vikings, and their fans
