What are you going to do for the special day?  If you live in Minnesota, most likely nothing. To most people, it might just be an interesting day. But to Packer fans, today has a special meaning.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wears #12 for the Packers and earlier this year, the Wisconsin State Legislature designated the day Aaron Rodgers Day in the state of Wisconsin in honor of last years MVP.

Some public and private businesses are encouraging their employees to wear Rodgers jerseys on Wednesday. One Green Bay Mall is offering 12 dollar deals.

Packers play the Chicago Bears on Sunday with a chance to win the division title.  The Vikings are at St. Louis Sunday.  I’m guessing they aren’t celebrating Aaron Rodgers Day today.

But maybe they are?  A Bears loss on Sunday would help their playoff effort.

Hockey Notes

Denfeld vs. Virginia-MIB last night at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center, and the Hunters win 5-3. The game was on ESPN 560WEBC.   The Hunters also won in the playoffs last year, in their last meeting, 5-1 in the 7A playoffs. Prior to that, the Blue Devils had won four games in a row between the teams.  Virginia is now 0-5 on the year, while the Hunters are 5-3.  Denfeld is now off until they meet Hermantown on December 20th.  Next game for Virginia is International Falls on Friday and Eveleth-Gilbert on Saturday.

In other high school boy’s hockey games on Tuesday:

C-E-C 13  vs. Cambridge   1

Eveleth-Gilbert  10 vs. Ely     1

North Branch  7 vs. Moose Lake Area 3.

Congrats to Team Duluth Boy’s high school swimming and diving team, as they topped Cambridge by a point, 93-92 in their new Ordean East pool.
