A man from Pine River is lucky to be alive after being involved in two separate accidents on I-35 just south of Duluth yesterday morning. The accidents occurred near Eldes Corner near Esko.

The initial accident occurred on I-35 around 6:39 am. The 42-year-old man got into an accident on the highway and then proceeded to get out of his car when he was then hit by a semi-truck that was passing by at the same time. The report from the State Patrol did not explain why the man got out of his car after the accident.

The semi-driver was not injured and alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the accident. The man that was struck fortunately did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was taken to Essentia hospital. There is no word on the status of the man who was injured.

This type of accident shows just how dangerous it is to ever get out of your vehicle after an accident or for some to even fix a flat tire. You hear or see video all the time of close calls for state troopers who get hit or almost get hit by cars flying by at 70 mph. Again thankfully this man somehow did not get injured enough to lose his life especially after getting hit by something as large as a semi. For more on this story go to Bring Me the News.
