A Minnesota Writer’s Life Is Portrayed In Kevin Hart’s New Movie
Kevin Hart is no stranger to fatherhood with four children of his own 2 boys and 2 girls with his youngest under 1 years old. So he had some understanding about how hard parenting can be before he took on the role for his latest movie aptly titled "Fatherhood" which debuts on Netflix June 18.
The thing I love about Hart is that yes he is funny and has great comedic timing but he can also show that softer more dramatic side and pull it off flawlessly. The movie is based on the true story about Matt Logelin, who grew up in Minnetonka. Back in 2008 he wrote a blog about losing his wife the day after she gave birth to their daughter Madeline and dealing with his grief and struggles as a new father raising this baby on his own.
According to Bring Me The News this blog eventually led to him writing a memoir called Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love which was published in 2011. From there Logelin started the Liz Logelin Foundation which helps support young widows and widowers. Logelin now lives in Los Angeles and is remarried, but the legacy of his wife and Madeline's mom will live on through his book, the movie and her foundation.
I have watched this trailer at least 10 times by now and I tear up every time, This is such an incredible story and the fact that Logelin was able to use his pain and loss and turn it into something to help others is really incredible. What an amazing way to pay tribute to his late wife and her memory.
