Ace Hardware In Duluth Handing Out Free American Flags
Ace hardware is honoring the fallen military heroes. Ace Hardware says on their website newsroom they have partnered with the VFW to Give Away 1 million American flags for Memorial Day Tributes.
I did find out that Burggraf's Ace Hardware at 1301 E Superior Street in Duluth is a participating ACE Hardware store and they didn't know how many they were getting so it may be slim pickings. According to the ACE article, I read they are giving them away on Saturday, May 29, 2021.
This is another year that Ace Hardware is working with the VFW to honor the brave men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice. I called the ACE Hardware stores in Duluth and Superior. I don't know if Superior is participating, they wouldn't answer their phone. Denny's ACE Hardware in Woodland said they were not giving away the flags.
People who want one can request a free 8” x 12” American flag.* A second flag will be donated to a local VFW Post to be used for marking and honoring veterans’ graves this Memorial Day. ACE Hardware says it handed out 535,000 American flags nationwide. The website says Ace sent 535,000 flags to more than 2,000 VFW Posts for placement on veterans’ graves.
You don't have to make a purchase in order to get a flag, I know when I talked to the Duluth Store on Superior Street they were hoping people get the flags to honor the fallen men and women or mark graves of those that have served in their family.
Remember, Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have died serving their country in combat or otherwise. Veterans day is the day to say Thank You for your service to the men and women that are currently in the military. The men and women that died so we can enjoy our freedoms are honored every year on Memorial Day. A lot of times you will see flags stuck in the ground next to the graves of the people that died.
