The City Of Duluth has announced that two new bridge repair projects will begin Tuesday, September 8 and they are expected to last into the middle of October.

The City is working through a contractor on the repairs, which involve Bridges 9255 and 69607 on Waseca Industrial Road over the BNSF Railroad and Keene Creek, which are located on either side of South 50th Avenue West (Verso Duluth Mill Truck Entrance).

Work will begin on Bridge 9255, which is located just north of South 50th Avenue West. Waseca Industrial Road will be closed on either end of the bridge, and traffic will be detoured around the site. Once significant work items have been completed on Bridge 9255, crews will switch to Bridge 69607, which is located just south of the intersection with South 50th Avenue West. Waseca Industrial Road will be closed on either end of the bridge, and traffic will be detoured around the site.

The City doesn't expect to ever have both bridges closed at the same time and they expect access to South 50th Avenue West will be maintained from the north or south at all times.

The entire project is expected to be completed by October 16.  Between now and then, motorists should expect to find and obey detour signs.  Motorists should also expect slower travel in that area and they should drive with extra caution due to the detours and the crews, who will be in the area working on the repairs throughout the duration of the projects.
