Douglas County is currently looking to fill some very important jobs in public safety, the 911 dispatcher.

The job pays $19.60 - $21.48 per hour and is done at the Douglas County Emergency Management/Communication Center located in Superior.

As part of the application process, candidates will have to pass an entry-level audio-keyboarding exam, those who pass will be invited to a structured interview.

911 dispatchers of course receive all emergency calls and dispatch police, fire, medical, or any other needed public safety service with personnel and necessary equipment.

Candidates must be able to work at a high level under stress and also be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as 911 is open 24/7 365.

All new hires will get classroom and on the job training and will be taught how to use a variety of telecommunications equipment, including transceivers, radio consoles, telephones, teletype, and computer systems.
