Duluth will soon have another option for pet food and supplies, as the pet retail chain Chuck & Don's Pet Food and Supplies aims to open a Duluth location later this year.

Chuck & Don's is a company founded by Chuck Anderson and Don Tauer in Eagan, Minnesota back in 1990. The company's story, as their website describes, got its start as Don (a dog kennel owner) and Chuck (the owner of an adjacent dog training school) teamed up to start selling pet food. This blossomed into the duo opening their first store in Eagan.

The company has expanded to over 45 locations, including multiple Twin Cities area shops as well as stores in Northfield, Rochester, Red Wing, and places in Wisconsin, Colorado, and Kansas.

The company offers food, care products, toys, and more for dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, and a number of other pets. Their website emphasizes the company's goal of carrying "an outstanding selection of quality food and treats" as well as being "committed to doing what's best for the customer and community".

The Duluth location will be their first in the area, and their farthest north location to date. Twin Ports area development website The Development Tracker reports that Chuck & Don's will be a tenant in a in a new retail space space on Central Entrance, right across from the Residence Inn by Mariott, just west of the recently-opened development that features Starbucks and Aspen Dental.

The new three-building retail space will lay between Texas Roadhouse and Anderson Road, offering a total of 21,700 square feet of space. Mid-America Group, who is in charge of leasing for the new spaces, shows on a map that Chuck & Don's will occupy the western-most space, which is a 4,000 square-foot shop almost directly across Central Entrance from Tires Plus. Other spaces in this development are still open for lease, according to Mid-America's website listing.

While there is no listed opening date, The Development Tracker uses the phrase "later this year" in their post about the store coming to Duluth.
