ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill Dislocates Shoulder, Show Postponed
ZZ Top have been forced to postpone at least one show on their current tour following an injury to bassist Dusty Hill.
Hill apparently fell backstage prior to the band's scheduled appearance in Lubbock, Texas, yesterday, dislocating his shoulder in the process. Lubbock station KFMX reports that an unidentified representative of the group or venue walked out onstage to inform the crowd of the postponement.
"With all due respect, I just visited with Billy Gibbons for about 10 minutes, and he told me to come out and they are going to have to postpone, and they are very sorry," the audience was told. "They are not canceling the show, he told me to tell you guys, they are going to try to come back. Hang on to your tickets."
ZZ Top confirmed the unfortunate news with a Facebook post that reads, "Tonight's show in Lubbock, TX, has been postponed due to Dusty Hill dislocating his shoulder."
UPDATE: ZZ Top's representatives have also confirmed the postponement of a show tonight (April 15) at the Firelake Arena in Shawnee, Okla., as well as a performance on Saturday (April 16) at Snook, Texas. Make up dates will be announced in the future.
What this means for the remainder of the group's Hell Raisers Tour is unclear. Later in the year, they're booked for a co-headlining tour with Gregg Allman.
Hill, as ZZ Top fans are painfully aware, has a long history of mishaps, starting with the time he infamously shot himself in the stomach. Surgery forced him to delay the start of the group's summer tour in 2014, and the band ultimately had to cut that year's activities short after Hill fell down on the tour bus. Here's hoping he recovers from his latest injury soon.
