I'm the big brother of a police officer and uncle to a hairy nephew K9.  So any event to help out our boys in blue is a big deal to me.  There is an organization called Shield 616, and they work to raise money for body armor for police.

A vest setup costing around $1,000 is made to stop high-velocity bullets and also includes a ballistic helmet.  Shield 616 is trying to raise money for 10 vest outfits and is looking for donations.  An event in honor or The Duluth Police Department and will be held at Spurs on First this Saturday the 22nd.  It starts at 7:30PM and has a brief presentation with food available and a complimentary drink for supporters.

If you can't make it, you can make a donation at Paper Hog or Spurs beforehand.
