Dave’s Hot Chicken Now Plans 30 New Minnesota Locations, Claiming the Entire State Their Exclusive Territory

The heat is officially spreading statewide.

When I first shared that Dave’s Hot Chicken was planning 18 Minnesota locations, I thought that was ambitious. But now, things are really heating up, literally and figuratively.

Alex Humphries, co-owner and representative of the Humphries family (yes, the same Humphries family that includes former NBA player and Minnesota native Kris Humphries), reached out this week with an exciting update.

“We expanded our commitment from 18 to 30 locations,” Humphries told me in an email. “This also gave us the entire state of Minnesota as our exclusive territory. This expansion reflects our overall satisfaction with the brand and the positive response it has received in MN.”

That’s right, the Humphries family now has the exclusive rights to bring Dave’s Hot Chicken to every corner of Minnesota. So if you’ve been waiting to see if it’s worth the hype, chances are there's a location near you or one will be popping up very soon.

Dave’s Hot Chicken Shows No Signs of Cooling in Minnesota

If you haven’t tried Dave’s yet, the hype is real. The Los Angeles-based chain started as a humble pop-up in a Hollywood parking lot back in 2017. Thanks to social media buzz, it exploded into a national favorite with celebrities like Drake and Samuel L. Jackson among its investors.

The menu keeps things simple with spicy chicken tenders and sliders in heat levels ranging from No Spice to Reaper, plus sides like crinkle-cut fries, mac and cheese, and kale slaw.

Where the New Dave’s Hot Chicken Locations Are Coming

Humphries says the next restaurant to open will be in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis next month. After that, new locations are planned for:

• Mankato
• Edina
• Stillwater
• Rogers
• Eden Prairie

He added there are “more to come soon.”

These new additions join existing Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants in Apple Valley, St. Paul, Minnetonka, and Coon Rapids, and the latest location in Rochester that opened earlier this summer.

With the Humphries family’s full-state expansion, Minnesota's other chicken chains are no doubt feeling the heat.
