2 Minnesota Towns Named Best In America With Less Than 10k Residents
I recently came across a list of the best small towns in America, and I really was hoping to see Minnesota represented. I come from a small town in a pretty rural area, so I know firsthand the small-town lifestyle. There's something special about it where everyone knows each other, and we don't really have those big city problems.
Far & Wide published the list '100 Best Small Towns In America To Live In Or Visit.' They recognize that the big cities get all the attention. This list was focused on towns with fewer than 10,000 residents.
Minnesota was represented twice in the list, and one of the towns scored near the top.

Perham, Minnesota - Population 3,512
Perham is located in the west-central region of Minnesota. It came in at #57 on the list.
They say Perham is a great town because of all its cultural events. Check out the antiques, coffee shops, and craft breweries. They also have an art center, and feature festivals throughout the year.
They also are home to the only museum in the United States that has an entire collection of oral history from veterans. That's pretty neat!
Grand Marais, Minnesota Population 1,360
The small town of Grand Marais came at number 29 on the list. It's a beautiful small town on the shore of Lake Superior. They appreciate all the outdoor activities, like water sports, hiking, and mountain biking.

The scenery is fantastic, but they also highlight the fact that they have some urban events within the community. I learned that Grand Marias has a Moose Festival in October. Pretty sweet!
Be sure to spend time checking out all the beautiful waterfalls in Cook County, too. They also have some great art festivals!
