Comedian Jo Koy Creates Hilarious Fake Tourism Ad For Duluth
Jo Koy had the chance to perform in Duluth in January, and for some reason he actually took the gig. Usually, when someone comes to Duluth it's to enjoy our summer, spring, or fall. January is a tough sell, but Jo Koy does his best to bring tourism to the frozen tundra that we call home.
Koy was in Duluth for a show on his "Let's Be Koy Tour" at DECC Symphony Hall on January 25, 2025.
In the video, he calls himself John McMillan, Assistant To The Senior Vice President of Duluth, Minnesota Department of Tourism.
Some of his jokes include sitting down and enjoying the views of our water on these icy benches. Also, "Despite what you may think, Duluth, Minnesota, has Black people."

Some of the places he visits include Fitgers, The Lakewalk, Duluth Coffee, and Duluth Family Sauna.

For most of the video, Jo Koy is bundled up and you can hear the blowing, cold, January wind. He pretends to know people passing in the street, giving Duluth a nice small-town charm.
People asked where his gloves were in the comments, which is a very Duluth thing. The first thing I noticed was his exposed hands. The top joke seems to be the snow-capped rocks.
Thanks for coming Jo! Next time come in the summer and we'll put together a more appealing tourism video. Not saying this one isn't good. It's just a more fun experience in the summer around here.
