I stumbled on a video today that caused me to go down a rabbit hole of fishing videos. A Minnesota YouTuber has been sharing videos of underwater catches, and recently put together a best-of video. Some of his videos get millions of views. It's so fun to watch and see how fish behave.

I broke down and bought a Vexilar a few years ago, and now I'm convinced I need to get an aqua view. Seriously, this looks like the most fun ever.

YouTuber Brian Prokuski has his Fishing With Bryan Prokuski channel which has over 20.1k subscribers. He also shares videos of summer fishing, but his most popular videos are on hard water. A lot of the videos are of northern pike strikes in shallow water near drop-offs. As he explains in one of the videos, he likes to set up between a 5 and 20-foot drop-off where it's sandy. With the daylight beaming down, he can get some pretty clear videos.

You can see a few different species in the video. Like this catfish.

It's so cool when you watch the video and you see a shadow appear from a distance and come toward the lure. It's really kinda creepy.

Sometimes a fish comes from behind the camera and passes over like a star destroyer. Pretty awesome.

It's fun to see the pike attack the lure, and then get whisked up with a successful hook.

I've learned a few techniques just from watching his video. He also shares some different lures that seem to work very well, like the 5 of Diamonds, daredevils, and even using a hot dog.

Brian usually fishes like most of us do. You set up a line with a bobber, and then you jig some other type of lure, like jigging Rap, daredevil, spoon, or jig.

Some of the coolest videos aren't even of when he catches a fish. You get to see the big ones that got away.

Watch this northern pike chew away on a sucker. I've fished with sucker minnows many times, and the key is to always let the fish eat through the sucker for a while so the hook gets in the mouth. I've always wondered what it looks like as they are chewing away, and now I get to see it!

There are already some people venturing out on early ice in Northern Minnesota. Be careful out there. The DNR says that you need 4" of good ice to be safe. Be sure to be checking the ice with a spud bar every few feet while you walk out. Good luck!
