22,000 Pounds Of Bratwursts Sold In Minnesota + Wisconsin Recalled
A lot of recalls that are issued generally don't get my attention. However, when it's one of my favorite foods and brands, like in this case, I'm checking my freezer. Johnsonville is recalling 22,000 pounds of sausage that was sold in 10 states, including Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Johnsonville BRATS Cheddar Bratwurst Recalled
The recalled products are the 19-oz sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of "Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst." Dang! That's my favorite brat! Johnsonville has voluntarily recalled 22,672 pounds of the Cheddar bratwurst sausage.
The package code on the recalled sausages is B9FOD. The front of the label also has Est. 1647.
Hard Plastic Found In Sausages
Johnsonville notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that they had received two consumer complaints reporting hard plastic material found in the bratwurst.

Check Your Freezer
Fortunately, there have been no confirmed reports of injury yet relating to the contaminated product. The affected product has been pulled from the store shelves. The FSIS is concerned that some of the products could still be in people's freezers. You are urged not to consume the recalled sausages, and you should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The brats were sold in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
