Scammers are hitting one particular bank chain in Minnesota. This chain has locations in Lakeville, New Ulm and La Salle. There are also other locations in the state.

Citizens Bank Minnesota just took to social media to warn customers about a scam. They shared this warning on social media on Monday (November 18th).

According to their post, scammers are targeting customers, calling them and saying they are from Mastercard Card Services. Some people have reported getting text messages first.

Once they get you on the line, scammers will then ask you for the first six digits of your Citizens Bank debit card. Because they know some basic information about you, it seems legitimate.

If anyone calls you and asks for banking information, it's always the best practice to hang up and call the bank directly. Never share any card details over the phone, by email or by text.

In this particular case, you can contact the Citizens Connection Department at 800-549-0194. I am glad the bank got wind of this scam and issued a warning to customers!
