
Minnesota DNR Building Shore Fishing Piers On 17 More Lakes
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced that they will be installing multiple fishing piers on Minnesota lakes in the coming year. It's part of their Get Out More campaign and connecting Minnesotans with the outdoors.

A barrier for many people when it comes to fishing is finding a place you can fish from shore. They announced in January that they will be spending $5 Million dollars on shore fishing infrastructure.

The fishing piers will be ADA accessible so all Minnesotans can enjoy the outdoors.
Minnesota currently has 360 shore fishing sites that the Minnesota Department Of Natural Resources manages. They say the fishing locations are ideal for new anglers, families, children, and people with limited economic resources who rely on public waters for fishing.
DNR investing $60 Million In Hatcheries Overall 2023-2029
Fishing hatcheries are also needed and part of the funding. Most of the hatcheries were built in the 1950s and are still using the original equipment. They will invest $24 Million in the Waterville Fish Hatchery, $19 million on the Crystal Springs Hatchery, and $12 Million on other hatcheries.
