There was a little drama Monday as the record Powerball jackpot climbed over the $2 billion mark. Usually, the drawings are held at 9:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, but there was a delay on November 7.

The delay was reportedly due to one of the 48 participating lotteries needing more time to complete the necessary protocols. The Powerball numbers were finally released Tuesday morning and four people in Minnesota are very happy. However, not as happy as who ever won the record jackpot. After reports originally claimed no winning ticket was sold, it was revealed later that there was at least one winning ticket.

California Lottery officials said the jackpot was hit Tuesday, but it hasn’t yet been confirmed where or how many tickets matched the six winning numbers.

The winning Powerball numbers were 10-33-41-47-56 and the Powerball was 10. According to the Minnesota State Lottery, there were four $50,000 Powerball winners in Minnesota. That means they matched four out of five regular numbers plus the Powerball.

Here are where the four big Minnesota winners purchased their winning tickets:

  • $50,000 11-07-2022 KWIK TRIP #160 458 GREAT OAK DR, WAITE PARK
  • $50,000 11-07-2022 JIM & JUDY'S 1 STOP 12321 HWY 29 NORTH, ALEXANDRIA
  • $50,000 11-07-2022 VINEWOOD HOLIDAY INC #524 4075 VINEWOOD LN N, PLYMOUTH
  • $50,000 11-07-2022 HOLIDAY STATIONSTORES LLC 2438 MARGARET ST N, NORTH ST PAUL

Unless they decide to come forward publicly, we may never know who these winners are. Regulation changes took place in order to protect lottery winners who win over $10,000. Big money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.

The next Powerball drawing will take place at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9. If you want to take a shot at winning, remember to purchase your Powerball tickets by 9:00pm CST on Wednesday and check Wednesday night to see if you've won the jackpot. It may not be a couple billion dollars, but it's still a nice boost to your bank account.

The odds of winning the jackpot by matching all 5 numbers and the Powerball number are one in 292.2 million. So, I'm saying there's a chance.
