In recent years, reported acts of violence in downtown Duluth have made several headlines.

In June, the Duluth Police Department responded to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center parking ramp after receiving a report of a 75-year-old male who was assaulted and robbed by three juveniles. The victim sustained a minor injury from the assault, and arrests have since been made.

This came after the reports of a woman being sexually assaulted in the downtown Duluth Skywalk in March of this year and, in 2022, a woman was attacked in the DECC parking ramp. There was also a pistol-whipping incident on the Lakewalk in 2023.

Those are alarming incidents and now there's yet another. During the overnight hours on Saturday, August 24, another act of violence occurred in downtown Duluth, and this one involved the shooting of two individuals.

On Sunday, Duluth Police provided initial details and encouraged anyone with information on the incident to reach out to them to provide details.
