The location was previously O'Neil's Pub and Drive Thru Liquor, but it was sold and renovated into Superior's first sushi place. People tried it and loved it, and it quickly grew a following.

The remaining standing structure was demolished shortly after the fire, and the lot sat empty for quite some time. Wasabi owners announced on Facebook that they would rebuild, to the delight of many customers in town.

The site continued to sit empty for weeks longer, and then work slowly started to be noticed. This summer I saw groundwork begin, but it still was a slow process.

A Facebook post from Wasabi confirmed that they are gearing up for opening. They thank the community for giving them strength and support to overcome this tragedy. They say they have rebuilt the restaurant piece by piece, step by step, and it's now in a roughed-in finish condition.

The owners posted that they are excited to welcome people back this spring. That means that within months we'll be enjoying all-you-can-eat sushi in Superior once again.
